What’s Growing in You? A New Study on the Fruit of the Spirit
There’s a question I keep coming back to in this season: What’s growing in me?
If I’m honest, I don’t always like the answer. Too often I see impatience in how I respond to my kids, selfishness in how I think about my time, or a critical spirit when things don’t go my way. It’s sobering—but it’s also deeply biblical. Because Paul says in Galatians 5 that something is always growing in us: either the works of the flesh or the fruit of the Spirit.
At Bible Study Schoolhouse, our newest collection is all about this contrast. In our new 9-week study on the Fruit of the Spirit, we explore what it means to live by the Spirit rather than the flesh—and how the Spirit produces in us fruit that’s not just beautiful but godly. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—these aren’t just personality traits or self-improvement goals. They are evidence of the Spirit of God at work within us.
And here’s the best part: the pressure isn’t on you to manufacture this fruit. The Christian life isn’t a self-powered garden. The Spirit Himself is the Gardener, doing the work of uprooting the thorns of the flesh and cultivating what is good, lasting, and holy. That’s the theological heartbeat of this study: we are called to walk by the Spirit, and as we do, He produces fruit that lasts (Galatians 5:16–25; John 15:4–5).
This collection was born from my own longing to see more of the Spirit’s fruit in my life—and less of the weeds of sin. I was pulling the same impatience, the same resentment, the same selfishness over and over. A wise friend encouraged me not just to focus on pulling weeds, but to plant something good. That picture stayed with me—and it’s what we’re inviting you to do in this study: plant the truth of God’s Word in your heart, let the Spirit tend the soil, and trust Him to bear fruit.
The Fruit of the Spirit Collection includes a 9-week Bible study, a keychain reminder, Scripture cards for meditation, a gorgeous embroidered journal for sermon notes or daily Bible study, and a set of two tea towels to keep your kitchen counter (and your heart) centered on truth. Plus, we're introducing a Bible study leaders toolkit to help every woman grow in leading a Bible study! It’s for every woman who wants to live a fruitful life, not by effort alone, but by abiding in Christ.
Join us as we dig deep. Let’s ask together: What’s growing in us? And let’s watch the Spirit grow what only He can.
